The Boatyard Grill is located over in the Eastport section of Annapolis, a sleepy little neighborhood frequented by sailors and populated by marinas.  Since 2001, the Boatyard Grill has focused on providing quality food that will keep you coming back again and again.  Their reputation is so good that Michelle Obama made a visit back in 2010, saying that their crab cakes were the best she's ever had.  So do they live up to the claim?  Read on and find out!

Annapolis' Favorite Crab Cake is a double platter of crab cakes made of jumbo lump crab meat, and served with tartar sauce, fresh vegetables, and smashed red potato skins.  While not a permanent fixture, on Monday nights, the Boatyard Grille also features a Crisfield Crab Cake platter, which is an Eastern Shore style crab cake, broiled to perfection and served with fries, cole slaw and tartar sauce.  Both lay claim to the phrase "All killer, no filler!"  On review today is Annapolis' Favorite Crab Cake. 

The crab meat used is nice and sweet.  Big lumps of crab with only a few broken pieces.  There really is no filler to these crab cakes!  There is a bready texture to the crab cake, despite not being able to see any breadcrumbs.

Overall, the crab cake is spectacular.  The crab flavor comes through, with a nice bready texture to accompany.  Spicing is a bit salty, with some spice on the back end.  Lemon does a decent job of mellowing it out.  Still doesn't take away from the experience, which is nothing short of excellent.
