The Mallet Crab Cake is a single or double platter consisting of jumbo lump crab cake, served with two sides, or one side and salad. The crab cake is a saucy crab cake, with broken lumps of crab. Not too many large chunks present in the cake. The binder is mayonnaise-based, with a minimal amount of breadcrumbs and just a tiny bit of spice to it.
The crab meat tastes meaty with a little sweetness to it. The binder is a bit on the bland side. While it tastes a little bready, there really isn't much spice to it at all. While it showcases the flavor of the crab, the cake as a whole ended up being a bit one-note and boring. It really could have used some extra spice. The Mallet does have a wonderful spice blend for their crabs, so ask for some extra crab spice on the side. You won't be sorry.
