The Seafood Stop offers crab cakes in 1/4 and 1/2 lb sizes. This review is for the 1/2 lb size. Crab cakes are homemade with hand picked, fresh jumbo lump crabmeat. While you can get the crab cakes cooked to go, you can also bring them home raw and cook them yourself. Crab cakes are available as a sandwich or platter. The crab cake is Maryland style, bready and thick. Old Bay sprinkled on top, as well as mixed in to the binder. The taste of the crab meat is nice and sweet, perfectly steamed, and did't dry out during cooking. The size of the crab meat lumps varies, but there are a good bit of big chunks in there. The binder keeps things nice and moist without being out of proportion -- just enough to keep things together.
We thought this crab cake was excellent! What's not to like about a crab cake that is mostly crab meat with very little binder. The spicing is enough to make itself known but not speak too loud. Really accentuates all of the other flavors nicely. The spice also has a nice and peppery flavor on the back end, which will make you smile.
