Harris Crab House Crab Cake Entree Harris Crab House Crab Cake Entree Crab Cake Review

At the base of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge lies Kent Island, known for its abundance of marinas, seafood restaurants, and outlet stores.  Heading "downy ocean, hon" from B'more, DC and Annapolis, you can't miss it.  And for over 50 years, Harris has been delivering fresh seafood straight from the watermen to your plate, offering expansive water views, all you can eat crab specials year round, and plenty of docking should you arrive by boat.

So it comes as no surpirse that the CCR would find itself here.  Of course, it wouldn't be our first, either!  Harris is that place you visit when you want seafood but don't want to deal with all of the Baltimore or Annapolis tourists.  And being on the other side of the bridge, it is far enough away that it is an enjoyable drive, without hearing cries of "are we there yet?"  So is their crab cake worthy of going that little extra distance, and paying the bridge toll as well?  Read along and find out!

Crab cakes aren't just made from jumbo lump crab, but the menu specifies Maryland Blue crab (aawww yeah!).  The crab cake entree comes in single or double, with a choice of two sides, tartar sauce and a corn muffin.  Sandwich also comes with fries.  Also on the menu is the mini crab cake appetizer.  On the table are crackers, vinegar, cocktail and crab seasoning (house blend, not Old Bay).  As always, your choice of broiled or fried.

Upon your first bite, you will exclaim "sweet Maryland crab!" as you sit in awe of what lies before you.  The crab cake is mostly crab (as it should be) with a few parsley specs in there, and a tiny bit of breadcrumbs to glue it all together.  Moisture level is perfect, as the cake strikes that balance between bready and saucy.  Really good amount of lumps of blue crab.  Don't make the same mistake I did, treat yourself and go for the double entree!  Or better yet, order them online.

If I can break myself away from cracking crabs at Harris, their crab cake is AWESOME! Plus you cannot beat the sides that so perfectly compliment a crab cake (or any kind of crab) as you can find here.
