The Green Turtle's Maryland Crab cake is a single or double platter, served with french fries and cole slaw. A sandwich is also available, served on a potato roll, or as sliders on the appetizer menu. Crab cake is only broiled, no option listed for fried.
The crab cake is made of all lump crab meat, with a good bit of lumps to be found amongst the broken pieces. Crab is held together with mayonnaise and breadcrumbs. While we would find it hard to believe that a crab cake would be made without any other spices, there wasn't much of any spice to be found. Not to say that there aren't more ingredients, we just couldn't taste them.
While the crab cake is moist and bready, the overall experience is lackluster. The crab meat has no discernable flavor to it, and all you can taste is the mayonnaise and breadcrumbs. And even then, the mayonnaise tastes pastey. The end result is a wet, pastey crab cake that is devoid of any crab flavor or spicing. Using more flavorful crab would be a start to improving this recipe, along with some additional spices to increase the flavor profile.
