Red Lobster

I don't think Red Lobster needs any introduction. The thought of going there for crab cakes has always been a joke around the office. With all of these excellent crab cakes in the area, why would anyone go to Red Lobster for them? We were surprised that they serve live lobsters and fresh fish. But crab cakes are a bit dubious. Were they good enough to make us "seafood differently"? Let's find out!

So what do you do with an old gas station? Well, if your name is Richard, you buy it and turn it into a crab shack! Although, as the name implies, they are more than just crabs. Since 2006, Richard and his son had been selling crabs and shrimp at this old gas station, since renovating the location and adding a steam room and kitchen. Richard also owns The Seafood Stop, which we had the pleasure of reviewing. So while one would assume that the crab cake recipes were the same, we here at the CCR will shy away from assumptions and do what we do best -- chow down on some crab cakes! Were they the same? Let's find out!

The Riverside Pub & Grille is an upscale sports bar nestled away in a corner off of I-95 at Exit 80 next to the Springhill Suites. It's a small establishment with a few tv's, 3 beers on draft, and a decent selection of wines. Sports memorabilia line the walls of this quaint restaurant. From what we can tell, they've been around for a few years, yet the place looks fairly new. We only happened upon it thanks to an internet search looking for crab cakes in the area. Were they worth the trip? Let's find out!

Sean Bolan's

Sean Bolan's is the Irish pub of choice in Bel Air. Located on South Main Street, they pride themselves on classic Irish culinary traditions, a warm atmosphere that shows their roots in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, and pouring the perfect pint. In addition to the Irish fare are some regional classics. One such case are their crab cakes. Were they good enough to make us kiss the blarney stone, or do they get the shillelagh stick treatment? Let's find out!

SeaPack is a familiar frozen seafood company that you've most likely come across in the grocery store, and probably grew up on. They are most notably known for their shrimp products, ranging from popcorn shrimp to jumbo butterfly shrimp. So many shrimp products that they'll keep 'ole Bubba Gump happy for at least a month. We've always known that they have a Maryland crab cake, but haven't been able to find them in the stores yet. So imagine our surprise when we find the mini crab cakes in one of our local Giant stores! We took one for the team to get this week's review, so read on and see how our experience was!
